Over 400 Civilians Killed by Drones From Ethiopia: Sudan

A press conference was held today on Ethiopia’s support for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia’s rebellion. It was attended by the Deputy Director of Sudan’s Military Intelligence, the Deputy Director of the General Intelligence Service, and the undersecretaries of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Information. Officials presented evidence on the number of attacks carried out with drones launched from Ethiopia.

According to the army, the RSF has carried out 162 attacks using drones launched from Ethiopian territory. The attacks targeted many Sudanese cities, including Ed Damazin, El Mazmum, Sinja, Kosti, Rabak, Belula, El Kurmuk, Dinder, Wad el-Mahi, El Obeid, Abu Ruleyle (Abu Alila), Bara and Umm Ruwaba.

According to the army’s presentation, attacks launched from inside Ethiopia have killed more than 400 civilians and 102 soldiers. Dozens of schools, fuel stations, health centres and hospitals have been destroyed in cities across Sudan.

The press conference also showed the route of the drones launched from Ethiopia. Officials said most of them took off from bases in Asosa and Bahir Dar and flew along routes running parallel to the border with South Sudan.

The types of drones used were also presented: kamikaze drones modified in various ways, as well as long-range drones such as the Chinese-made CH-95 and the Turkish-made Bayraktar Akinci and Bayraktar TB2. Officials also showed that some of these drones had been shot down, including an Akinci and a CH-95.
