Sudan Army Seizes Hamrat al-Wiz in North Kordofan Push
At least 13 people were killed and 22 wounded in Um Rawaba, in Sudan's North Kordofan state, when a drone belonging to the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces RSF struck the town's courthouse district.
According to the Sudanese Doctors Network, the attack took place on September 8 at around 1:00 p.m. local time, as a crowd had gathered outside the courthouse waiting to complete legal and administrative procedures. Eyewitnesses said the drone fired three missiles at the courthouse grounds, nearby administrative buildings and residential areas. Most of the wounded were taken to Um Rawaba Hospital, and court staff and lawyers were reported to be among the victims.
Local sources say the attack was carried out by the RSF a force documented in the United Nations' latest report as being armed through a UAE-centered supply network; the group has issued no statement on the accusation. The Emergency Lawyers condemned the strike, stressing that targeting civilian and judicial facilities constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law.
The target was no coincidence: Um Rawaba sits on the army-controlled strategic route linking central and western Sudan. North Kordofan where the army has secured the Export Road and pushed the RSF westwards has become one of the war's most intense fronts, with drone attacks on civilian targets behind the lines steadily increasing. According to Reuters, citing UN sources, more than 1,000 civilians were killed in RSF drone strikes in Sudan in the first half of 2026 alone.
