Sudanese Official Accuses Washington of Blocking UN Report on Emirati Support for RSF

A senior Sudanese official said Tuesday that the United Nations Panel of Experts on Darfur has completed its final report, and accused the United States of obstructing its publication because it contains evidence of Emirati involvement in fueling the war in Sudan.

Amjad Farid, political adviser to the head of Sudan's Sovereignty Council, said in a post on X that the panel — established under UN Security Council Resolution 1591  had finished its report and that the document includes evidence of the United Arab Emirates supplying the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) with weapons, mercenaries and supplies.

According to Farid, the report contains proof of what he described as an ongoing Emirati role in backing the RSF and inflaming the conflict.

He accused Washington of exerting pressure and obstructing procedures related to the report, arguing that the aim was to prevent the publication of evidence he said demonstrates the continuation of that role.

Farid described Abu Dhabi's use of its influence to impede the application of international law and disrupt UN meetings as what he called an unprecedented form of international terrorism.

Neither the United States nor the United Arab Emirates has publicly responded to the accusations. The UAE has repeatedly denied arming or otherwise supporting the RSF in Sudan's war, which has been ongoing since April 2023.
